Keeping Up with KoMarketing: Fall 2015 Conference Preview

It’s hard to believe that September is officially upon us but since my calendar has never lied to me, I guess I’ll believe it.

With September comes the first official day of fall and of course the wonderful things that come with fall, including apple picking, autumn leaves, sweaters, and of course…conferences!

The fall is conference season for marketers and KoMarketing will be attending a number of great events in the next couple months. Below we’ve outlined where you can find us, when, and what we’ll be doing.

Be sure to connect with the team ahead of time as we are always excited to meet others in the industry.

SMX East 2015

SMX-East

New York, NY: Sept. 29th– Oct 1st

SMX East is one of our favorite shows. The content is always good and being one of the bigger SMX events, it allows us to meet lots of new people. On top of that, we get to experience the sights and sounds of NYC. This year, both Rebecca and I will be headed down to the show, where Rebecca will be gathering fresh PPC knowledge to bring back to the team and I will be hanging out on a couple panels:

  • Session Date: Tuesday, September 29th 10:45am EST
  • Session Overview:

Truly effective keyword research goes beyond the numbers game of targeting frequently searched terms. Brilliant keyword research attempts to get into the minds of prospects and customers, uncovering needs and desires, yielding insights that can help you create more meaningful, compelling content. Attend this session and learn how this approach to keyword research can lead to higher levels of audience engagement AND boost search rankings.

  • What to Expect:

Featuring Bill Hunt and Grant Simmons, this panel will without a doubt be interesting, tactical, and funny. I’ve seen both of these guys present before and they bring knowledge and personality to the panel. Plus it’s a great topic. The way people search is changing and that means your content must also adapt.

  • Session Date: Thursday, October 1st 1pm EST
  • Session Overview:

Search and social media may seem like two different species, but they have plenty in common. Combine your search and social media marketing efforts and teams and maximize results of both. In this session, we’ll show you how search and social marketing teams can use their unique skills and knowledge to help each other in paid, earned and owned marketing.

  • What to Expect:

This is one of my favorite sessions as so much of online marketing is merging. Featuring Eric Werner of Home Depot and Geoff Colon of Microsoft, this session will feature some really cool examples of how companies are combining their search and social efforts.

Update: I will also be hopping into the Social Media Clinic, Thursday at 10:45am. Have social media questions you want answered? Come on in!

Pubcon Las Vegas 2015

Pubcon-Vegas-2015

Las Vegas, NV: Oct 5th – Oct 8th

Pubcon has been around forever and it’s by far the biggest marketing show I’ve ever been to. Featuring premiere speakers and a MASSIVE agenda, Pubcon is a must attend event. It has something for everyone and let’s be real…it’s in Vegas so it must be fun. This year, I’ll be both speaking and moderating:

  • Session Date: Wednesday, October 7th 11:35am PDT
  • Session Overview:

This session will look at how businesses can create a content promotion strategy from start to finish. Understand how to identify relevant topics (based on data, customers, and competitors), find and reach influencers (both organically and through paid methods), and get those influencers to actually share your content when it launches (outreach tactics). Learn from real life examples and the tools that can help content marketers succeed.

  • What to Expect:

So many people forget that content marketing must involve marketing. This session will focus on how to actually promote your content and will feature a couple really smart gentlemen, including Will Scott and Phillip Thune.

  • Session Date: Wednesday, October 7th 2:45pm PDT
  • Session Overview:

A look at how presentation has changed in the past 5-7 years online, what it means for organic search, and where we’re heading in 2016 and beyond as far as content marketing is concerned. This session will also look at a similar idea of “distributed content” being superior to a domain-centric approach alone. Getting the most out of modern SEO – in all its form factors (Video, Traditional, Mobile)

  • What to Expect:

I’m really excited about this panel not only for the speaker lineup but for the topic itself. It’s unique and something that isn’t often talked about at shows. Content must be good in order to succeed and it must tell a story. These guys are going to provide insights into how.

Discover Global Markets: Business Forum Series

Dallas, TX: Oct 8th– Oct 9th

Over the past couple years, KoMarketing has become a partner of the U.S. Commercial Service department. As a result, we’ve been able to attend and speak at some really fantastic events across the globe. This October, Derek, Ryan, and Steve will be headed to Dallas for the E-Commerce Strategies for Exporters event, where Derek will be speaking on a panel about international digital marketing trends.

  • Session Date: Thursday, October 8th 3:45pm CDT
  • Session Overview:

An overview of international digital marketing trends, focusing on Social Media and Mobile Marketing. Learn about the best social media platforms to engage international customers, with special considerations on reaching the mobile customer and how move them to your e-commerce site. Finally learn how to bring it all together – determine the right strategies and platforms for your international marketing.

  • What to Expect:

We just finalized key discussion points for this plenary session, which will cover everything from trends in social media and mobile and the impact in international e-commerce, strategies and experiences realized amongst panelists, and important resources and references for organizations looking to invest in international e-commerce and considering the impact of social media and mobile technology.

Orange County, CA: Oct 29th – Oct 30th

The team will also be heading to Orange County at the end of the month for the Pacific Rim Consumers event. Derek will once again be speaking on a panel and both Steve and Rebecca will be attending and manning the KoMarketing table.

  • Session Date: Friday, October 30th 11:45pm PDT
  • Session Overview:

While the specifics for presentation details are still being finalized, this session will focus on how social media impacts buying decisions across the various target markets along the Pacific Rim; from Asia to the Western side of North and South America.

  • What to Expect:

What will make this session the most interesting is the combination of key market information along with tactical resources and examples. We will be bringing together both strategic guidance and as many practical examples and experiences as possible, throughout the session agenda.

Searchlove London 2015

SearchLove-London-2015

London, England: Oct 19th – Oct 20th

This past April, SearchLove came to Boston and I was fortunate enough to be selected to speak. I had never attended a SearchLove and it was unbelievable. The speakers were excellent, the sessions were tactical and relevant, the crowd was fun, and the Distilled team knows how to run an event. Which is why I am even more pumped to speak at SearchLove London next month.

Sessions details are TBD but the lineup is being set and it will certainly be an awesome event. Be sure to check the site for more information!

But there’s more!

While many of us will be traveling, there will be plenty happening right here in Boston. Our Online Marketing Strategist, Kristen Vaughn, will be attending Inbound 2015 next week and we hope to be making an appearance at the MarketingProfs B2B Forum.

Additionally, Steven and Derek will be headed to Denver in mid-September, presenting online marketing best practices at this year’s annual meeting for leadership teams of John Deere dealerships across North America.

It’s going to be an exciting fall and we hope to not only meet some fresh faces but bring back some killer knowledge to share with the rest of the KoMarketing team.

Will you be attending any of these events? Let us know and we’d love to meet up!

“I worked with KoMarketing during my time at Pongo in a variety of roles. At first, they were doing the work for us, but in the end, they trained my growing team on Search Engine Marketing (SEM). Their education of the importance of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) led to us launching a job search blog, over 30 learning center articles, and a social media campaign. I would not hesitate to recommend the KoMarketing team for any size project you may have.”
